Transforming Entertainment at Retail

In today’s world consumers expect convenience and flexibility—but they don’t want to sacrifice quality. This is especially true when it comes to their entertainment. MOD Systems Retail Digital Entertainment Platform enables you to deliver the kind of experience your customers are looking for while simultaneously increasing your in-store traffic, boosting your revenue and enhancing your brand.

Convenience for the customer. Revenue for you.

Digital Download Kiosks

Our digital download kiosks allow you to sell a nearly unlimited catalog of digital assets, including thousands of movies and popular TV shows and millions of music tracks–right from your sales floor. Your customers will have access to premium titles, including new releases and harder-to-find older titles. And the best news is, you’ll never go out of stock.

How It Works

  • Movies and TV Shows:
    • At the digital kiosk, your customers can quickly search thousands of movies and TV shows, preview trailers, and add their selections to a shopping cart. Then, with a quick swipe of a credit card, they buy or rent content selections. The content quickly downloads to a portable Secure Digital (SD) memory card, such as those used in digital cameras. SD is the ideal media for video because it’s fast, high-capacity, and can store both the protected content and the keys to unlock the content. And instead of being able to play their content on just one device, as is often the case when you download content online today, they’ll have the freedom to enjoy their content on any Windows PC and a growing number of consumer electronics devices at home or on the go – no Internet connection needed.
  • Music:
    • With our digital music solution, your customers will be able to quickly find, purchase, and download their favorite music – in mp3 format – onto any flash-based media they choose, including SD memory cards and USB flash drives.  Those files can then be transferred onto their PCs and later onto their portable music devices. In the future, our kiosks will allow customers to download their purchased music directly onto select compatible portable devices, with no need to load the files onto a computer prior to enjoying them on the go.
Build Your Brand, Increase Your Revenue

Digital download kiosks drive traffic to your store by giving customers a reason to come back again and again. The kiosks can be customized to your brand, and they allow you to offer specials, cross-promote merchandise, and integrate with other store systems. It’s a great way to energize your retail locations, build loyalty and differentiate your company against competitors.

The kiosks also provide a valuable opportunity to engage customers interested in high-end merchandise such as TVs, computers and portable media systems—as well as peripheral devices. Plus, digital delivery of content saves your valuable shelf-space for higher margin products. It all adds up to increased basket size and ultimately, more sales per square foot.

The Evolution of Digital Content

MOD Systems and its partners continue to innovate ways to bring the best digital content to consumers so they can enjoy it wherever, whenever and however they want. Soon, the solution will enable retailers to easily add an online component to their in-store offering, giving customers the ability to buy digital content instore and have a copy saved in a “digital locker”. This simultaneous cloud-based delivery provides customers with personalized online storage for content where they can download or stream it later for use on a broad range of Internet-enabled devices.

Nationwide Rollout

MOD Systems and partner NCR introduced the Retail Digital Entertainment Platform in the fall of 2009 with its first technical trials in select Blockbuster and Hollywood Video stores. Based on the universally positive consumer feedback, we began a broad commercial rollout of the digital download kiosks at InMotion Entertainment stores and others beginning in summer 2010.
