More than $6 million in capital raised to support growth

Thu, Sep 2, 2010

MOD Systems has entered one of the most exciting times in the company’s history, with the first commercial deployment of our digital entertainment download kiosks, developed in partnership with NCR. This is the world’s first digital kiosk of its kind, and kicks off an aggressive expansion phase for MOD. With that, we are happy to announce more than $6 million in capital raised to support our growth. Existing investors led this new round of financing, and we’ll use the capital to support additional retail deployment efforts and continued R&D.

With our commercial launch, consumers can now rent or buy digital movies from Download2Go kiosks in InMotion Entertainment stores at airports around the country. Our own Sea-Tac International Airport was the first to go live this summer, with movies downloaded to SD memory cards in about two minutes. Consumers can play movies on Windows PCs and televisions (using our GreenPlay Digital Media Player) with support for additional consumer electronics devices in the future.

MOD is one of very few companies with licenses to sell both digital movies and music at retail, and we do so because we’ve developed a sophisticated technology platform that enables the secure encoding, ingestion and distribution of protected content. With our solution, retailers can rent or sell thousands of new release and catalog movies from some of the top Hollywood studios, including Warner Bros., Paramount, MGM, 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, and independent studios such as Anchor Bay, Image Entertainment, and First Look Studios, as well as music from all major labels. It’s complex, but we have the best technologists on staff, partnerships with folks like NCR, Sonic Solutions, film studios and music labels, and a tremendous market opportunity.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to pick up a movie on SD card the next time you fly. You’ll be on the cutting edge of digital entertainment distribution and enjoyment.

Warm regards,
Anthony Bay
MOD Systems CEO
